Unlike ordinary PhDs, the 15 ESRs within ASCenSIon will not be trained within a narrow scope and with a limited one-domain view. The core idea of the project is to develop the first generation of researchers who have outstanding scientific and transferable skills to go far beyond the current State Of The Art (SOTA). The students will receive a joint training in fundamental aspects of system design, reusability, propulsion physics, GNC and sustainability, all combined with transferable skill training in communication, research and entrepreneurship. Moreover, secondments will allow the PhDs to gain both academia and industry experience.
To achieve these goals, a coordinated joint network-wide programme is carefully designed. In addition to tailored research plan for each students, the programme includes several events such International Summer Schools, Experimentation Weeks, Workshops, Online Seminars, international conferences attendance, etc.
Thanks to such a training scheme the candidate will have the chance to enhance his/her scientific and transferable knowledge, disseminate the results of his/her research, get in touch with the other ESRs and ASCenSIon partners, improve his/her networking skills, as well as contribute to raise social and cultural awareness.
The project leading to this application has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 860956.
