Work Packages

Work Package 1: Project management

  • Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Dresden (TUD)

Objectives: To ensure the overall operation of the project including technical, administrative and financial aspects, in order to guarantee that the EC officers are informed regularly about the project progress as well as the achievement of milestones and deliverables on schedule.

Tasks:
T1.1:
Project planning, execution and reporting (Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Dresden)
T1.2: Financial and legal issues (Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Dresden)

Work Package 2: Sustainable and reusable main stages

  • Lead Beneficiary: DLR

Objectives: Studying design concepts of reusable launch systems and how reusability influences the design of components with particular focus on the propulsion system, e.g. engine cycles, advanced nozzles and green propellants. Mandatory health monitoring of reusable parts will be investigated by means of WSNs. This will assist the investigations of mission analysis, re-entry and reliability (WP4) and provide the input for upper stage design including GNC and trajectories (WP3).

Tasks:
T2.1
Optimisation of LRE for reusability (Lead Beneficiary: German Aerospace Center)
T2.2 Evaluation of green propellants for sustainable operations (Lead Beneficiary: SITAEL)
T2.3 Assessment of advanced nozzle concepts (Lead Beneficiary: Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”)
T2.4 Integration of WSNs for health monitoring (Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Dresden)

Work Package 3: Upper stages for multiple payload injection

  • Lead Beneficiary: Università di Pisa (UniPi)

Objectives: Developing critical technologies for advanced upper stage concepts capable of injecting multiple payloads to multiple orbits, particularly focusing on the interaction of GNC and propulsion, which will produce specific requirements for design and performance criteria of main stages (WP2) and assist safe disposal and space debris mitigation efforts in WP4.

Tasks:
T3.1
Development of GNC solutions for multiple payloads / multiple orbits delivery (Lead Beneficiary: Politecnico di Milano)
T3.2 Integration of hybrid engines in upper stages (Lead Beneficiary: ONERA)
T3.3 Examination of reliable upper stage design concepts (Lead Beneficiary: Università di Pisa)

Work Package 4: Re-entry, reliability and safe disposal

  • Lead Beneficiary: Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi)

Objectives: Optimisation of re-entry trajectories for reusable main stages (WP2) and expendable upper stages (WP3) including aero-thermo-dynamical analyses and missionisation of mission analysis and GNC, with a special focus on reliability and safe disposal.

Tasks:
T4.1
Trajectory optimisation for RLV re-entry (Lead Beneficiary: Politecnico di Milano)
T4.2
Aero-Thermo-Dynamic Modelling (Lead Beneficiary: ONERA)
T4.3
Development of a MA and GNC missionisation process for re-entry (Lead Beneficiary: DEIMOS)
T4.4
Verification of reliability and safe disposal (Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Braunschweig)

Work Package 5: Training

  • Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Dresden (TUD)

Objectives: Organisation, coordination, control and supervision of joint and local training activities planned in the network. Verification of effectiveness of training. Elaboration and control of the Career Development Plan of every ESR.

Tasks:
T5.1:
Organisation and supervision of network-wide training activities (Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Dresden)
T5.2: Organisation and supervision of local training activities (Lead Beneficiary: Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”)
T5.3: Supervision of secondments (Lead Beneficiary: Bremen University of Applied Sciences)
T5.4:
Elaboration of career development plans (Lead Beneficiary: Université libre de Bruxelles)

Work Package 6: Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation

  • Lead Beneficiary: Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB)

Objectives: Dissemination to and communicating with the general public and stakeholders. Networking within the project and with stakeholders as well as related activities. Exploitation of research results including the utilisation and management of IPRs.

Tasks:
T6.1:
Dissemination (Lead Beneficiary: Université libre de Bruxelles)
T6.2:
Communication (Lead Beneficiary: Politecnico di Milano)
T6.3:
Exploitation (Lead Beneficiary: DEIMOS)

Work Package 7: Ethics requirements

  • Lead Beneficiary: Technische Universität Dresden (TUD)

Objectives: The objective is to ensure compliance with the 'ethics requirements' set out in this work package.

Tasks:
D7.1:
Requirement No. 1 (Lead Beneficiary: TU Dresden)
D7.2: Requirement No. 2 (Lead Beneficiary: TU Dresden)
